  • Dominant Religion: Protestant (1871 - Evangelical - 491,008; Catholic 3,378; Other - 56; Jewish - 1,896)
  • Since 1990 part of Sachsen-Anhalt
  • Formerly: Principality
  • Prussian: No (But was influenced by Prussian officials at different times)
  • Principal crops: grains, fruit, vegetables, potatoes, beets, tobacco, flax, hops
  • Industry: sugar, distilleries, beer, timber, wool
  • Minerals: lignite, salt
  • Rivers: Elbe, Saale, Mulde
  • Organization: Anhalt is made up of two large areas and five enclaves: Alsleben, Dornburg, Gödnitz, Mühlingen, and Tilkerode-Abberode.
  • Settlement: Most of the earlier settlers to this area were Dutch and Flemish colonists, who were invited by the archbishop of Magdeburg.
