The archive contains records for Pommern (Pomerania) from the 12th century to 1945, and the area of Rostock from 1952 to 1990. Records are organized as follows: duchy of Pommern-Wolgast (12th century-1640), Swedish Pomerania (1648-1815), Brandenburgian Pomerania (1654-1806, province of Pomerania (1815-1945). No catalog of holdings is available, only publications of church records. The archive contains emigration lists, releases from citizenship, as well as passenger lists (the port of Stettin) from the 19th century. The archive has church records for West and East Pomerania. The primary 19th century publication is the Verzeichnis der pommerschen Kirchenbücher in Vorpommerschen Landesarchiv Greifswald, a catalog of the Pomeranian church records in the archive (Temmin edition, 1996). There are around 70 holdings available for the West and east Pomeranian city administrations. Censuses of Swedish Pomerania and Prussian Pomerania are kept for the 18th and 19th centuries. Military muster rolls for Swedish Pomerania and Prussian Pomerania are kept for the 18th and 19th centuries. There are holdings available from areas which border on eastern Pomerania (now in Poland), as well as holdings from provincial and city administrations and court records.
